Dear BULYPNY Members and Visitors:
On behalf of the Buffalo Urban League Young Professionals, I would like to thank you for your ongoing support of the Urban League movement. I am so excited to serve as President of BULYP and I would like to take a moment to share with you my vision for moving our chapter and Buffalo Urban League affiliate forward.
We are very fortunate to serve as volunteer leaders for one of the nation’s oldest Urban League affiliates. Since BULYP’s inception back in 2013, we have had the privilege of having an incredible working relationship with the Buffalo Urban League, and during my tenure as President, we will continue to build on that relationship through our volunteering and fundraising efforts.
The City of Buffalo is experiencing a great renaissance, with billions of dollars in economic activity happening all throughout the city. Jobs are coming back, and with that our organization will serve as a conduit for connecting young professionals with the many opportunities that are arising in the city.
Despite the growth and activity that’s bringing people back to Buffalo, there are still communities who feel underrepresented. As members of BULYP, we will serve as a voice and advocates for those communities and continue to stand on the front lines of social justice. We will work with city officials, community partners and key stakeholders to ensure that underserved communities are properly represented and taking advantage of the opportunities in the city.
Lastly, the lifeblood of our organization is in our membership. We will make a concerted effort to continue to grow and retain our membership base so that we can develop the next generation of leaders.
I invite you to come learn more about the Buffalo Urban League Young Professionals. We meet every third Thursday of the month for our General Body Meetings, in addition, each committee meets once a month. If you are serious about giving back and focusing on professional & personal development, then this is the organization for you. We look forward to serving with you!
Yours in the movement,
